Hagen has inherited his father's lust for world domination based on force - and he knows how to exploit the inherent corruption of humanity. Hagen plots Siegfried's murder but he cannot escape the final conflagration, as Briinnhilde realises that the only way out is self-immolation and the twilight of the Gods - Gotterdammerung. Theatres are machines that generate emotion, but many new buildings went wrong: the actors somehow felt alone. Consultants are redesigning stages that link the performers to the punters and vice versa - by ripping out interiors and wallpapering the sides with people. But should we destroy our recent past? Do we, the actors, or the architects own buildings?

Peter Erskine , one of the most sought after drummers in contemporary music, and John Abercrombie , described as the most highly individual guitarist of the post-Coltrane era, have often played together. But for their recent Contemporary Music Network tour they each had their own trios. Peter Erskine was joined by British pianist John Taylor and Norwegian bass player Palle Danelisson.
John Abercrombie favoured a very different line-up of Dan Wall (Hammond organ) and Adam Nussbaum (drums).
Chris Parker introduces the concert recording and talks to both Erskine and Abercrombie.
