Paul Oliver presents the second of two programmes to mark the centenary of the birth of this talented black American songster and guitarist whose real name was Huddie Ledbetter.
After his discovery in prison by John Lomax , Leadbelly started to make records for the Library of Congress, to present his own radio show and even try his luck in Hollywood, but he had difficulty adjusting to life as a professional musician.
