In 1910 Max Beerbohm married Florence Kahn , a young actress from Memphis, Tennessee - a marriage that lasted until her death in 1951. It was assumed that her letters to Max were lost. In the process of editing Max's correspondence with Sir William Rothenstein , Dr Lago found that many of them had in fact survived.
