The competition is wide open this year, with Dwain Chambers having a realistic chance of becoming Britain's first world 100m champion since Linford Christie in 1993. With a competitive field expected, could the world record be under threat?
Among the other highlights of the evening, the triplejump final should see Britain's only defending world champion, Jonathan Edwards , putting his limited preparation to the test in what promises to be a compelling duel with Sweden's Christian Olsson.
