Britain's most enduring television quiz show begins a new series tonight.
The programme, which celebrates its 25th year in 1995, notched up more than 250 million viewers for its last series, but the audience profile is somewhat surprising. Says executive producer Mike Adley: "More than half the programme's viewers are women, many of whom can't stand sport!"
Back in their familiar roles as team captains are Ian Botham (currently nearing the end of his latest walk for Leukaemia Research) and Bill Beaumont, former skipper of England's rugby team, with David Coleman as questionmaster. Their guests tonight are 100-metres world champion Linford Christie, Blackburn Rover's striker Chris Sutton, Surrey cricket captain Alec Stewart and top British female swimmer Karen Pickering.

The conclusion of a two-part reconstruction of the police investigation into the murder of 14-year-old runaway Jason Swift.

Crucial leads from one of the convicted murderer's cellmates in Wandsworth prison enabled the police to establish links between this and other murders of young boys. The subsequent investigation, Operation Orchid, attracted huge press and public attention, but the eventual decision of the Crown Prosecution Service left the police officers involved feeling both angered and disgusted. Presented by Nick Ross.

Whistler's Mother is one of the world's best known paintings, yet for 19 years it remained unsold. Its painter, James McNeill Whistler, was one of the most contentious artists of the 19th century, but this film shows that he was also one of the most misunderstood.
