Grace Brothers department store has closed down following the death of young Mr Grace. His will reveals that he has left his fortune to his favourite charity - a home for fallen women - and has used the staff's pension contributions to buy an old manor house, which he bequeaths to them.
The penniless staff decide to move in and try to make a living out of running it as a country hotel but Mrs Slocombe gets a shock when she meets the people on the nearby farm.
