Recorded highlights from the visit, seen live earlier today, to the historic city of Shanghai. Sue Lawley, with BBC Peking Correspondent Mark Brayne , describes The Queen's walk through the famous bazaar area of the old town and her meetings with street sellers and tradesmen. She then moves across a zig-zag bridge over an ornamental lake to take tea at the Wu Xing Ting Tea House.
Nearby is another Shanghai attraction, the so-called
'Mandarin's Garden', dating back four centuries. A garden, say the Chinese, is a Place to 'nourish the heart'. For the Queen it may also Provide some respite in her week-long tour which continues with a flight to Xian and a sight of the famous Terracotta Warriors, then on to Kunming towards the Burmese border, and finishes in Canton on Saturday evening.
Esther Rantzen continues her week in the hot seat and discovers that it's just as much fun interviewing people in the warmth of the Television Theatre as it is stopping them outside on the pavement.
It's a bad night for security at the Muppet Theatre as animals and people drop in all over the place. Extra special guest star Julie Andrews , in between renditions of such gems as 'Lonely goatherd' and 'Whistle a happy tune', decides to take refuge in her dressing-room when all manner of cannon balls start flying around.

This Friday in Lausanne the International Olympic
Committee decide who will host the Olympic Games in 1992. Ron Pickering tells the inside story of Birmingham's determined efforts to win this coveted prize.
In July 1985, Birmingham surprisingly became Britain's candidate. Already in the race for 92 were Barcelona,
Paris, Amsterdam, Brisbane, Belgrade and New Delhi.
From being a late entry and a dark horse, Birmingham suddenly and dramatically became one of the front runners.
Over the last year the enthusiastic local team, led by The Rt Hon Denis Howell , MP, former Minister of Sport, has worked hard to win over the crucial committee members. It's meant endless entertaining of foreign visitors, fund raising, 'selling' trips abroad, and working out the 1992 games down to the last detail.
The film ends in Lausanne where the team make their last sales pitch and, convinced they should win, await the verdict.
