Artist Sobha Singh , aged 85, popularly known as 'Painter of the People', was born in India. He was invited by the Sikh community of Newcastle Upon Tyne to paint a large canvas depicting the Tenth Guru of Sikhs, Guru Gobind Singh , sitting on the throne. Self-educated and well-informed about happenings in the art world, his faith in himself is firm. His art varies from portraiture, landscapes and still life to 3D.
The Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri award.
He believes that the secret of living is not rest but work and he paints for love, not for money.

A swift returns to her nest with food for her chicks. A fallow deer suckles her newborn fawn. A barn owl feeds her young in the privacy of a deserted country shed.
They are deserted except for you, the audience, because in an ambitious countryside link-up, hidden remote-controlled cameras are watching these animals and beaming back pictures, as they happen, to the studio in Bristol. Wild Britain also looks at both the serious issues and the lighter side of wildlife that's in the news at the moment.
