The feature film starring Robert Taylor, Julie London, John Cassavetes

In the first of two MGM westerns Steve Sinclair , a retired gunman now working in a quiet ranching community, is none too pleased when his hot-headed younger brother Tony returns from town with a new girl and a new gun he is itching to use. The trigger-happy Tony soon embarks on a trail of murder and destruction as he victimises a party of squatters. The scene is set for a showdown between the brothers.

Confederate soldiers, Will, Jesse and Clint escape from a Yankee prison camp and are hired by guerrilla leader Quantrill to lead a gold-laden wagon train into an ambush. Will and Clint think the gold will help the Confederate cause but Jesse knows that Quantrill has other ideas.
