Tonight's film in this comedy season stars Cary Grant, Ann Sheridan

In America, tonight's film was called I Was A Male Warbride, which accurately and wittily sums up the dilemma of Cary Grant as French Army Officer Henri Rochard when he marries Ann Sheridan - Lt Gates of the US Women's Army Corps - and she is recalled to the States. Henri, now demobilised, decides to go too, but how? The American Consul comes up with the brilliant notion of listing him as 'an alien spouse of female military personnel.'

"Being a husband is a whole-time job" (Arnold Bennett)

If you're one of Britain's 14 million married men, here's your chance to check up on your husband-rating. Does your wife agree that you're a good partner to her? A help with the children? Generous? Considerate?

Cliff Michelmore asks the questions and gives the answers, and you can compare your score with those of three famous husbands Brian Rix and his wife Elspet Gray, Terence Brady and his wife Charlotte Bingham, Robbie Brightwell and his wife Ann and a cross-section of 50 more, whose wives will be beside them in the studio to see they don't cheat.
