A film from Russia
A boy from Moscow, very much against his will, goes to stay with his three aunts who live in a small country town. He takes a friend with him, but when they reach their destination he goes off leaving his friend in his place. The aunts greet the abandoned lad enthusiastically, but to his horror he learns that they expect him to take part in a bicycle race, since he is a Moscow champion.
The film presents an unusually light-hearted view on youth in Russia today.

A contest for the title Young Scientists of the Year

Paddy Feeny introduces the teams:
Golspie High School, Sutherland - Trout in Scottish lochs
Madras College, St. Andrews - Radioactivity in milk
Morgan Academy, Dundee - Geranium leaves in the wind
The judges: Professor William Kershaw, Dr. John Carthy, Professor James Macdonald
The team from Golspie High School, Sutherland, came from over 220 miles to take part in today's heat. The members, however, were undismayed by the distance, for their project - a long-term study of water life in some of Sutherland's 2,000 lochs - had already taken them all over their large but sparsely inhabited home county.
As well as representing Scotland in the British final, tonight's winners will be invited to take part in the West German Science Fair in Frankfurt.

Agitators, criminals, anarchists any of these might have a purpose in acquiring illegal supplies of explosives. But Arthur Stanley Mellish is a mild-mannered, industrious, law-abiding citizen; conscientious in his work, circumspect in his private life.
