A new film series by Heinz Sielmann
Commentary by Peter Scott
Five programmes about the wildlife of the New World, ranging from the snow and ice of the Canadian Arctic and Alaska to the tropical luxuriance of the Florida Everglades.
As spring breaks the icy grip of the Arctic winter, the wildlife of the region revives. Wild geese and duck are migrating to their breeding grounds; other birds are involved in elaborate courtship displays; the wolves are already rearing their cubs; antelope and bison roam the plains and herds of wild caribou move northwards in search of fresh pasture.

A documentary by Hugh Burnett.
What is the truth about South Africa?
Earlier this year BBC-1 transmitted this remarkable and much-acclaimed film which looked at South Africa solely through the eyes of white people in the Republic. Most of them see the black man as under-developed and alien to their culture, flatly rejecting the idea of integration and seeking instead the best way to live apart.
Hugh Burnett has since returned to South Africa to make a second film, The Heart of Apartheid, looking at South Africa through the eyes of its non-white peoples, the majority of the population. These two films are now being presented as a pair: White Africa tonight, and The Heart of Apartheid next Tuesday at 9.5 p.m. Together they make an important contribution in this World Human Rights Year to the never-ending debate about the rights of man.
