Wild New World: 1: Canadian Spring

on BBC One London

A new film series by Heinz Sielmann
Commentary by Peter Scott

Five programmes about the wildlife of the New World, ranging from the snow and ice of the Canadian Arctic and Alaska to the tropical luxuriance of the Florida Everglades.

As spring breaks the icy grip of the Arctic winter, the wildlife of the region revives. Wild geese and duck are migrating to their breeding grounds; other birds are involved in elaborate courtship displays; the wolves are already rearing their cubs; antelope and bison roam the plains and herds of wild caribou move northwards in search of fresh pasture.
