Harold Truscott is a pianist and a writer on music as well as a composer. His Second Violin Sonata, written during 1948 and 1949, is in four movements: Moderato, Allegretto con moto, Adagio ma un poco moto, and Allegro. Hugo Cole, a pupil of Herbert Howells and Nadia Boulanger, has had a number of works broadcast, including a concerto for horn, a divertimento for ten instruments, and a trio for flute, clarinet, and piano. His Quartet in A, which won the Clements Memorial Prize in 1951, is in four movements: Allegro, Allegretto, Andante, and Vivace.
