Denys Darlo conducted the Swedish Radio Orchestra in a concert last September, and while in Sweden made the acquaintance of this evening's two Swedish works. Johan Helmich Roman (1694-1758) was a violinist, oboist, conductor, and prolific composer who studied in England. Karl-Birger Blomdahl, now thirty-seven, lives in Stockholm and represented Sweden at the recent conference in Rome on Twentieth-Century Music. His works include a cantata ' In the Hall of Mirrors' and three symphonies. A.J.
