From cathedral chorister to cinema organist - this has been the story of Felton Rapley, who comes to the microphone this morning with another of his versatile recitals. First a chorister at Winchester Cathedral, then. at the age of thirteen, organist at Hursley Parish Church in Hampshire, Rapley entered the musical side of the cinema industry at the age of seventeen.

He was musical director at a number of South-Coast cinemas, and soon became a theatre organist, in which capacity he has held posts all over the country. He was appointed to his present position in December, 1935.

A commentary on the international match by H. B. T. Wakelam from Murrayfield, Edinburgh
Once again one of the many battles of the ' Blues' takes place at the White City, where Oxford and Cambridge will fight out field and track events in what is probably the most popular sports meeting of the year.
This will be the seventy-first meeting between the Universities. So far, Cambridge have won on 36 occasions, Oxford on 28, and there have been six ties. Two new events were added last year, the discus and the javelin, and a new system of scoring by points was introduced, five points, three points, and one point respectively being given for first, second, and third places. Previously only first place had counted. Curiously enough, although Cambridge gained more first places than Oxford, the Dark Blues won by 60 to 57.
Oxford enter the field as favourites this year, having won the cross-country and the relays last December. There will be thirteen events, of which it is probable that a distance event and one of the hurdle races will be broadcast.
An article on the Calcutta Cup match between Scotland and England will be found on page 8.

Kathleen Moorhouse (violoncello)
Frank Merrick (pianoforte)
These two artists have broadcast both alone and together on a great many occasions. Kathleen Moorhouse comes of musical parents, and there was little doubt in regard to the career she would follow. She gained an open scholarship at the Royal Manchester College of Music at the age of fifteen, and later studied privately in London. She is a member of the Maurice Cole Trio, and the Leonard Hirsch string quartet. Kathleen Moorhouse is the wife of Eric Fogg , conductor of the BBC Empire Orchestra.
She has just returned from
Madeira, where she fulfilled a series of recitals for the Madeira Music Club.
Frank Merrick has been heard not only in many broadcast recitals but also in the ' Foundations of Music ' series. He has been a professor at the Royal College of Music, where many gifted young pianists have passed through his hands. In 1910 a programme of Merrick's own music gained a diploma of honour at the International Rubinstein Competition in St. Petersburg. During the Schubert Centenary Celebrations he won a competition for completing the ' Unfinished ' Symphony.
