Eric Phelps (holder) v. Lou Barry
A Running Commentary on the race over the course from Putney to Mortlake by John Snagge from the launch Magician following the boats

Traditionally this professional championship race is almost the property of one or other of those great rowing families - Phelps and Barry. Lou Barry, nephew of the great Ernest Barry, world champion in 1914 and 1920, is challenging the holder, E.L. Phelps, younger brother of the famous E.A. Phelps, world champion in 1930, 1931, 1932, and 1933. The race will be in the nature of a return match, for E.L. Phelps beat Lou Barry in September last year. The winner of today's race may challenge R.H. Pearce for the World Championship.

chosen and presented by Leslie Perowne
This afternoon Leslie Perowne is to introduce a new series of swing record recitals, and will review the programmes that have already been heard. This new series is based on the idea of enjoying swing music rather than analysing it. W. H. Elliott , the founder of London's No. 1 Rhythm Club, will give the next broadcast.
Fuller information about the new series will be found in Leonard Feather's ' Tempo di Jazz' on page 14.

Spring in Paris
Gabrielle Vassal
In her vivid, easy style,, missing no detail of what goes on around her, Madame Vassal , who lives in Paris and frequently comes over to this country to broadcast, is to describe Paris in the spring. Whether it is 'Madame' in her costume de sport taking her dog for a walk in the Champs-Elysees, or the housewife, with her market bag, fighting her way between the stalls on the Place de 1'Alma, or the young apprentices swarming out of the big shops at midday for lunch, Madame Vassal is as aware of them as they, one and all, are aware of the budding trees.
She will talk of the Exhibition, of 'roads up' (just as they are in London), of the ' trottoirs ' and 'midinettes ', of the theatres and the plays that have been the hit of the season.
