' The Whole Meaning of Thanksgiving
Day'
Mr. and Mrs. CÉSAR SAER CHINGER
' Thanksgiving ' is the day of days in America, second only to Christmas as a feast day. It is a legal holiday, and is always held on the last Thursday in November. The first ' Thanksgiving ' was held in the seventeenth century to celebrate the first harvest of the Pilgrim Fathers. After the service the Pilgrim Mothers busied themselves with a Thanksgiving Dinner, and pumpkin pie and turkey are Thanksgiving dishes to this day.
This afternoon Cesar Saerchinger ,
European Director of the Columbia Broadcasting System, and his wife, are to speak of this national event in their own country.
