'Pig Clubs in 1941' by Cedric Drewe , M.P.
The backyard talk this week, unavoidably postponed from last week, will be about that popular subject, small pig clubs. And who better to talk about them than Cedric Drewe , M.P., who is not only Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Minister of Agriculture, but Chairman of the Small Pig Keepers' Council ? He is a whole-hearted enthusiast for the pig in the backyard, and is himself no mean farmer. He has farmed in Devon all his life-a mixed farm, with a herd of Devon cattle. On September 11 this year he opened the London Zoo Pig-Club—one of the many examples of what can be done under the greatest difficulties.

The vision of Robert Burns as seen in the poet's works, by George Burnett , with T. P. Dawson , James Gibson , Thomas MacMillan , Noel Eadie , Chorus of men, and BBC Scottish Orchestra, conducted by Ian Whyte
Produced by John Gough
The memory of Robert Burns , the national poet of Scotland, has been celebrated in many different ways. It may be appropriate in this year of war to show from his poetry and prose his abhorrence of snobbery, wilful stupidity, and oppression. He foresaw a brotherhood of man that would make this world an earthly paradise when the grosser forces of these faults shall have been purged from human nature. The conditions he imposed have not yet been fulfilled. Nevertheless, the power of his words and the clearness of his vision are as dynamic as when he wrote and looked forward.

Jean Cadell as Clementina Wajkinshaw and Denis Arundell as Cardinal York
Produced by W. Farquharson Small
No longer Bonnie Prince Charlie , hero of romance, but ' dishevelled, haggard, and doubtfully sober', Prince Charles Edward Stuart , Count of Albany, is seen in Rome discussing the rebellion that followed the disaster at Culloden in 1746. He maintains that there would have been a different ending to the battle had his way been followed. Finally, a messenger arrives at the Chancellery, announcing the death of James III , and the lolling, stupefied Prince is proclaimed Charles the Third.
