Zoltan Kodaly , one of Hungary's leading composers, has done much to revive interest in the folk song of his country. The series of five songs for mixed choir, 'Mátra Pictures', was composed in 1928. The airs upon which these songs are based are all taken from the Matra district and present five scenes of country life.
