A recorded story of what has been happening at the Western Front
Recorded in France by the BBC News Observers
In future, despatches from the BBC Unit with the Allied Armies on the Western Front will be broadcast at this time every Saturday. Tonight's despatch is the thirty-first sent by them from France since the war began. Many of the previous thirty have been broadcast in the News, and this will still be done with shorter reports of day-to-day events.
Richard Dimbleby tells some of the experiences of the BBC Unit at the front in his article on page 5.

(Section B) leader, Paul Beard
Conducted by Clarence Raybould
Liszt's symphonic poem ' Les Preludes ' is based on Lamartine's ' Meditations poetiques ': ' What is life but a series of preludes to that unknown song whose initial solemn note is tolled by Death ? The enchanted dawn of every life is love ; but where is the destiny on whose first delicious joys some storm does not break ?-a storm whose deadly blast disperses youth's illusions, whose fatal bolt consumes its altar. And what soul, thus cruelly bruised when the tempest rolls away, seeks not to rest its memories in the calm of rural life ?
' Yet man allows himself not long to taste the quietness that first attracted him to Nature's lap ; but when the trumpet gives the signal he hastens to danger's post, whatever be the fight which draws him to its lists, that in the strife he may once more regain full knowledge of himself and all his strength.'

presenting Evelyn Dall (by permission of Bert Ambrose), Webster Booth, and John Bentley in 'General Release'
Songs from current and forthcoming film issues with the Radio Graces, the BBC Theatre Chorus (trained by Charles Groves), the BBC Theatre Orchestra (leader, Tate Gilder). The programme arranged and conducted by Reginald Burston
Compere, Hugh Morton
Keen filmgoers, as well as many other listeners, will be interested to know that for this programme Reginald Burston has persuaded the producers and Jack Hylton to release the original scores of the new Band Waggon film, and Alexander Korda has released the original score of the incidental music for The Four Feathers.
Another point of interest about the production is that Evelyn Dall, the popular dance-band vocalist, is entering a new field, so far as sound broadcasting is concerned.
