These championships are part of the first stage in the All-London Dance Band Championships, which lead to Blackpool (on June 3), the All-Britain Amateur and Semi-Pro- fessional Dance Band Championships, and fame.
By the time the broadcast begins, the judges will have selected the first three, each of whom will try to catch their eyes and be adjudicated the winner. The judges, having given their award, will then put down their pencils and note-books and show the bands concerned how to put it over. And very well they should do it when they include such well-known players as Sid Phillips , Max Bacon , Teddy Foster , Woolf Phillips , George Shearing , Dick Escott , and Joe Young.
