with Helen Clare , Gwen Lewis , Jacques Brown , Ian Sadler , and Luanne Shaw
BBC Revue Orchestra, conducted by Hyam Greenbaum
Here is a new show devised by Eric Spear , who was in turn dancer, actor, stage manager, scene designer, and composer before joining the BBC a year ago. He wrote forty-eight numbers for ' Melody and Co.' in nine weeks-a pretty good record.
' The Arlington', it seems, is a luxury hotel with all the amenities. One is likely to hear something of an economy mannequin parade — in clothes made from substances which cannot be used for salvage. Jacques Brown plays a character with a mania for salvage, and Helen Clare is the receptionist. With Mrs. Ponsonby from ' Danger-Men at Work! ' as a guest artist, one can imagine the fun. The hotel will have its own band — the BBC Revue Orchestra, and a strange Mexican, played, by Ian Sadler and based on a real Mexican he knew, will wander about the place.

with Monte Rey , Paula Green , and Bob Arden
Once again Joe Loss , famous for his broadcasts from the Astoria Dance Salon, which he left in March this year to tour the halls, provides the band of the week. At the age of thirteen he won a scholarship to Trinity College, and for the next three years studied the classics. Then he rebelled. He formed his first dance-band combination of four amateur musicians when he was sixteen. They received five shillings a week each for five hours' work at a Kensington club. His first broadcast was in a ' First Time Here' programme in 1934. For the last two-and-a-half years
Monte Rey , who has sung in so many of Geraldo's broadcasts and stage shows, has been regularly on the air with Joe Loss and his Band.

Perhaps no broadcaster has the gift of instilling in his listeners cheer and reassurance quite to the same extent as John Hilton , who made his name with his weekly chat ' This and That' to unemployed listeners nearly six years ago. His talks last year on events of the week drew the same big audience and mail, as did the weekly article he contributed to the News Chronicle under the heading of ' 'Life'.
The keynote of this series to the Forces, whether they are in the East, or on the seas or in camp in parts of Britain far from their homes, is to keep them from worrying about their people-to give them news concerning things, or to explain legislation affecting them, or something of the kind.
