Though he started life as a serious musician, Arthur Young has now become one of the leading figures in the world of jazz and swing. His compositions include a tone poem, which was performed by Ambrose at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.
Young is one of the leading exponents of the novachord, an instrument of the electric-organ class, which, however, has a diversity of range and effects all its own.

During the season 1913-14 Melsa gave six recitals in London, and when the war was over he returned to tour most of the important musical centres in Britain. After touring America and the East he settled in England permanently.
