Nat Gonella and his Georgians
Nat Gonella's Georgians take their name from their signature tune 'Georgia'-the number with which, by the way. Gonella first attracted the attention of listeners. Nat Gonella is one of the. leading exponents of swing music, and . declares that he owes his interest in it largely to Gracie Fields. He appeared, at the age of sixteen in an Archie Pitt -Gracie Fields show, and during his engagement Gracie Fields gave him a gramophone and some swing records. Through these Gonella heard trumpet-playing of a kind he had never heard before, with the result that he himself began to study the trumpet and to develop his distinctive technique.
