Here is a fifteen-minute thriller based on a characteristic story by one of the most brilliant modern writers of short stories. The characters all belong to a gang of international anarchists. But an eerie motif is added to increase the thrill. All the action takes place to the mysterious accompaniment of a piano, incessantly playing arpeggio scales. Who is the pianist ?
As with most of the late
Stacy Aumonier 's stories, the climax is as surprising as it is inevitable.
Incidentally, a dramatised version of another story by the same author —'The Old Lady with Two Umbrellas '—is being broadcast in the Children's Hour today.
