Italy v Scotland
Coverage of this Euro 2008 Group B encounter from Studio San Nicola in Bari (kick-off 7.50).
Scotland's improving form under manager
Alex McLeish has brought a recent rise to 16th in the latest Fifa world rankings and, following the defeat of World Cup finalists France earlier in the competition, the Scots should be keen to test their mettle against Italy. McLeish will field a strong team from their squad, which will likely include stalwart Christian Dailly and a backbone of in-form Celtic players.
The Scots will need to be at their very best as, despite indifferent recent form and a slip to second rung in the Fifa world rankings, Italy are still a serious force to be reckoned with and have match-winners like Luca Toni and Andrea Pirio to call on. They may have drawn with Lithuania and lost to
France in their earlier qualifiers, but they have also won every previous game against Scotland on home soil. Presented by Gabby Logan. Highlights of Andorra v England are at 10.40pm on BBC1.
