Factual: Bubble Trouble 8.00pm BBC2
The shops are still full of Japanese branded goods but we don't hear about Japan's economic miracle any more. This fascinating series tells exactly what happened in the last two decades when the Yen went through the roof, the country's economy went off the rails and the bubble burst. It is a tale told with clarity and economy, a fast-moving narrative revealing how naive economic management sent land and share prices spiralling and fuelled a false boom. But when the government finally left banks and stockbrokers to go bankrupt, "it was like a crack across a blue sky," says one broker. It is an eye-opening view of Japan's changing culture that makes you wonder what the film-makers would make of Britain pic's changing fortunes.
