In the last of three documentaries exploring topical issues, Gordon Brewer travels back - after 12 years of living in London and Tokyo - to his native Scotland as it prepares to embrace home rule.
Setting out to discover what it means to be a Scot, Brewer learns some unexpected lessons in the modern politics of national identity. He hears the views of a cross section of people, including former minister Lord Mansfield, who blames Margaret Thatcher for the upsurge of Scottish nationalism, and George Kerevan, a former Trotskyist who now supports the cause of the Scottish National Party.
