Chemicals were first used as weapons of mass destruction in the First World War. German chemist Fritz Haber approached the military with the idea of using poison gas on the battlefield, and it was put into practice in April 1915 on the Western Front, where thousands of soldiers were suffocated. This edition tells the story of the use of poison gas during the century.
