Wot U Lookin At? The most common pre-violence comment - "wot u lookin at" - has led psychiatrists working with prisoners to identify paranoia as one of the most important factors behind the violence of city centre streets. Other scientists believe biology, not psychology, holds the key - that genes separate the violent from the peaceful. Horizon uncovers evidence of government funded research in America that is looking into levels of brain chemicals and possible ways of using drugs to alter behaviour. But the film asks whether we should be seeking medical solutions to social problems.

The criminal justice system is a game of adversaries and this nightmarish game show treats it literally as that. Starring
Jill Gascoine for the defence, and Simon Callow for the prosecution, it features former footballer Garth Crooks as the brave contestant whose liberty is on the line. A battery of legal professionals help him towards his doom under the guidance of Ken Campbell , judge and gamesmaster. The show may mirror real-life cases, but it's only a game. Or is it? If you ever thought British justice was fair, remember - everything that happens here could happen to you. Explanations and examples from Anna Worrall ,
Anthony Scrivener , Anthony Hooper , all QCs, and Rt Hon Sir Frederick Lawton , an appeal judge. Director Alan Ereira
Executive producer Elizabeth Clough
