Michael Palin continues his trip from the North to South Pole.

Glimpses of Paradise
With the surprise success this year of The Protecting Veil, his "hymn to the Mother of God" for cello and string orchestra, John Tavener 's popularity has gained new ground. Geoffrey Haydon 's film includes excerpts from his previous one about the composer, made in the 1960s when Tavener was a friend of the Beatles, as well as specially filmed sections from key Tavener works. At the centre of this biography is the composer's discovery of the Eastern Orthodox Church which he joined in 197 7, and the few words of commentary are by Tavener himself.

Through trying to pass on the things she's learnt to her uninterested family, she discovers her own voice and views - which are no longer just an echo of Ronnie's.
