Commonwealth champion Sally Gunnell is Britain's gold medal hope in the women's 400m hurdles final. She ran the third fastest time in history at the world championships last year, but a mistake at the last hurdle cost her the race and the gold medal went to the Unified
Team's Tatyana Ledovskaya. Her greatest rivals tonight should be Ledovskaya and the American Sandra Farmer-
Patrick, who is renowned for her outrageous taste in running kits. She won the US trials in a blue, gold and red sequinned top and orange tutu.
The men's event has reached the semi-final stage, and European champion
Kriss Akabusi will be running for a place in Thursday's final.
