First in a six-part series of personal documentaries giving voice to the wisdom of years.
Long Distance Runners Marathon runner
Jenny Wood-Allen is 80, and has run 18 marathons in the last few years, raising £20,000 for charity. Along with John Wilkinson , also 80, who still referees two football matches a week, she regrets the injustice of enforced retirement.
In her film, she introduces us to a cast of other indomitable characters. Tom Jones, at 91, is Britain's oldest milkman; the oldest chiropodist,
Marjorie Jones , is 90. Then there's Mitzi Lorenz , "the oldest milliner in the world", and Sheilah Ellis , the doyenne of shepherdesses. At work or in retirement, this expanding generation has a great deal to offer.
