Maximilian Schell 's biography of Marlene Dietrich is being shown as a tribute to the star who died earlier this month.
When actor/director Schell persuaded Dietrich to allow a detailed interview, she made one condition: she would be recorded in sound only. The result is a funny and moving tribute to a self-mocking but dogmatic star, illustrated with the best moments from films ranging from The Blue Angel to Just a Gigolo, clips from shows and newsreel footage from
Marlene's wartime tours. In
German with English subtitles.
Filmed in 1972, this classic recording captures the magic of the legendary Dietrich. On stage at the New London
Theatre, she performs many of her best loved songs from film and stage, including
Lili Marlene and the unforgettable Falling in Love Again.
