This weekend a major exhibition of the great Belgian
! surrealist painter
Rene Magritte opened at London's
Hayward Gallery. To mark the occasion, BBC2 presents a short season of programmes devoted to this influential artist, including an invasion of 90-second Talking Magritte films appearing unannounced between programmes, and a special Late Show report on Thursday night exploring the man behind the myth.
Tonight's programme is David Wheatley 's highly praised student film, first shown in Omnibus in 1979. Using an innovative mixture of animation and dramatisation, the film brings Magritte's mysterious images to life.
