Heaven Ablaze in His Breast, based on E T A Hoffman's gothic horror story The Sandman, opens this new series of dance programmes. Choreographer Ian Spink and composer Judith Weir have called on the performing skills of the dance company Second Stride and the vocal group Vocem to produce a work that is part dance and part opera. Helped by designer Antony McDonald, Spink draws on images and ideas from the past and the present.
