A three-part series on the Soviet manned space programme, the real history told by the cosmonauts and engineers who took part.
1: The Invisible Spaceman. The story of the man who created a mighty rocket empire which gave the Soviet Union its spectacular lead in the space race. He was known only by the mysterious title, 'chief designer'. Not until after his death was the name of Sergei Korolev revealed. Korolev's emergence from the prison camps of the Gulag is a story of courage and determination, until now kept out of official Soviet records.
