Salmon - In a Sea of Troubles The salmon that leap the waterfalls each year as they ascend Scotland's rivers to spawn signal that all is well in the world about us Like the grouse, they are part of Scotland's heritage and the anglers who come in pursuit of the king of fish are an important part of Scotland's economy. Since 1976 there has been a disturbing decline in the numbers of salmon returning from the ocean to breed. This film follows the salmon on its life's journey through a sea of troubles in search of who or what has caused this decline. Is it the Greenland eskimos, the Faeroe Islanders,
Northumbrian drift-netters, seals or poachers who are to blame? Could it be the traditional netsmen on the Scottish coast, or even the anglers themselves? Or is there something wrong with Scotland's rivers?

Ten years ago this week the last Americans left Saigon. More than two-and-a-half million Americans served in Vietnam. They risked their lives and then returned to a country that rejected them. Bitter and angry some have survived by running away from society and living in the wilderness. Today, there are still hundreds of these veterans hiding in remote forests and mountains of North America. Their memories of what they have been trained to do to fellow human beings and the horrors they have witnessed make it impossible for them to live in normal society. For them Vietnam is an unfinished business. They fear the violence in themselves.
In any other war Steve,
Bruce, Jake and Fred, all veterans of Vietnam, would have been heroes. This documentary shows them living in self-imposed exile, outcasts in their own country.
