The Year of the Green Centre Narrated by BARRY PAINE
Australia's wettest year on record brought floods and disaster to many areas. Central Australia is the driest part of this driest of permanently inhabited continents, yet even this had been deluged. It turned green almost overnight. A normally drought-gripped land was awakened into the most vividly spectacular bloom of desert Howers and animals in living memory. The desert rains triggered birds into breeding and produced abundant food for insects, lizards, mice and men.
