A programme for enthusiasts The Steamboat Sailors

A View from Down Under.... Australian TV reports
'We haven'had 18 years of TV, we've just had one year 18 times.' So many Australians criticise their television services for relying too much on imported programmes. But just as Australia is becoming more and more conscious of her own national identity so her television is turning to home-made products.
Reporting on domestic and foreign affairs the ' home' look is often highly critical as will be seen in the documentary film extracts chosen for tonight's programme. One of these focuses on some of the unhappy results of Australian colonialism in Papua New Guinea, the Pacific islands which will gain independence at the end of the year.
