This afternoon, in the Great Hall of Alexandra Palace, nearly a thousand new graduates will be presented to the Open University Chancellor, Lord Gardiner. The University is also conferring the honorary degree of Doctor of the University on people prominent in public life, among them Lord Butler of Saffron Walden.
