A series of seven films about aspects of their past made by seven European countries.

In the 15th century the Dukes of Burgundy ruled the area which included most of modern Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg, and a large part of eastern France; under the enlightened patronage of Duke Philip the Good, Bruges became a European capital of the Arts.
This film, made by Belgian Television, looks at the achievements of the Burgundian world and at everyday life in the late Middle Ages as it is depicted in paintings, carvings and illuminated manuscripts.
