The High Chaparral is the home of a pioneer family in the newly won West; is the prize the settlers must hold against outlaws and Indians; and spells adventure in the wild Arizona territory of 1870.

Don Sebastian pays his first visit to the High Chaparral and proves to be a very disruptive and demanding guest. Finally, his outrageous behaviour is the direct cause of an Indian uprising.

This week's programme in the series on Man and Science Today.

If 100 couples made love for a year - with no contraception - only 60 or 70 of them would conceive. In the long term one couple in 12 suffers from infertility.

"It's a feeling of inadequacy - until it gets to be almost an obsession," say one couple, "and it's very difficult to talk about it."

Even if one's fertility has not yet become a problem it's a secret worry to almost every man or woman. This film lays out the odds and shows the investigations and the treatments that can now help half the infertile couples. For the other half, where there is still no treatment, it shows the research that may help them towards their much wanted child.

A pain and swelling in the leg is sometimes the first sign of a blood-clot forming. These clots, or thromboses, can occur in any artery or vein and if a clot becomes dislodged it can be fatal. How do they happen? Enforced inactivity in a jet aircraft, going to sleep in a deck-chair, even sitting cross-legged may lead to thrombosis in some people.
Recently new methods have been found for detecting this condition and in tonight's programme specialists discuss the symptoms and treatment of thrombosis and also deal with some other blood disorders.
