The High Chaparral is the home of a pioneer family in the newly won West; is the prize the settlers must hold against outlaws and Indians; and spells adventure in the wild Arizona territory of 1870.

Buck meets a very attractive woman and falls in love. But she is not everyone's idea of a perfect lady - especially as she can out-shoot, outride - and very nearly outcuss - any man on the ranch.

This week's programme in the series on Man and Science Today
Even rats under stress can develop ulcers, but how can the emotional stress of a family quarrel or a deadline at work turn into a serious physical illness?
This programme traces the physical link between the mind and the mechanisms in the body which react to stress - a reaction commonly diagnosed but little understood.
But even if the physical causes can be recognised, how will it be possible to treat something whose emotional roots may lie in the very nature of society itself?
In this programme, the first of two dealing with diseases of our time, Horizon pinpoints why some of us are more prone to stress than others and examines current research which might lead to a better understanding of this immense problem.
