A programme for children at home.
Presenters this week, Marla Landi, Rick Jones
In the story chair, Bernard Miles

At this time of the year the postman is busy delivering letters, parcels, and Christmas cards. They all have stamps with different colours and designs; today you can see the new Christmas stamps and hear how the first Post Office began.
Sometimes stamps show pictures of places, and on Tuesday, after seeing stamps of Wales and Scotland, Marla and Rick dress up in the traditional costumes of these two countries. On Tuesday, too, Bernard Miles tells a story called 'Racing Pigeons'; his other stories, on Thursday and Friday, are about 'Long John Silver' and 'Dapple Grey'.

Life ...in the animal world.

The bringer of death is a wingless insect whose struggle for life has brought to an end the lives of millions of other animals. This extraordinary creature has attracted the close scrutiny of scientists for generations, many of the important discoveries coming from such famous 'amateurs' as the Rothschild banking family.
The Hon. Miriam Rothschild describes these, using special film studies photographed by Eric Lucey, University of Edinburgh and Peter Parks, University of Oxford
Programme introduced by Dr. Desmond Morris, Zoological Society of London.
