Last March a film unit camped out in the Ardens' sitting-room for a week to make a film of a playwright at work. "We have not attempted to analyse his style or place his position amongst the modern British playwrights, nor have we tried to show that a writer who has baffled the critics is easy to understand; Arden, like life, is not that simple. We just wanted to give you the sense of how one writer lives and works."
