Christopher Cook introduces this concert from the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester featuring music by Ravel as both orchestrator and composer. The programme takes a promenade past the paintings of Viktor Hartmann - the inspiration for Musorgsky's piano suite, which Ravel orchestrated - and to the Greek island of Lesbos which, with its nymphs and pirates, is the setting for Ravel's ballet.
