5/5. Late Works. Fanny Mendelssohn-Hensel was 40 before she published some of her music under her own name. Its favourable reception encouraged her to tackle one of her finest and final works, the Piano Trio in D minor. Music was a source of solace for Clara Schumann after her husband's breakdown and death, and once she resumed her career as a concert pianist she more-or-less stopped composing and turned instead to championing her husband's music. With Donald Macleod.
