Karita Mattila stars as Richard Strauss's doomed heroine, Princess Salome, who becomes obsessed with John the Baptist, held prisoner by her step-father, Herod.
The prisoner rejects her and Salome plots her revenge. When Herod promises her whatever she desires as a reward for dancing for him, she demands John the Baptist's head on a silver charger. Herod tries to dissuade her, but she insists.
Horrified when she lusts over the severed head, Herod orders his soldiers to kill her. Presented by Stephanie Hughes.
